The Great Commission
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV) |
The Mission Team at HGBC is responsible for:
• raising awareness within HGBC of Christian missionary work;
• encouraging the support of missionary activity in prayerful, practical and financial ways; and
• challenging the congregation to be open to the call of God to go out into missionary work.
HGBC firmly believes that the "Mission Field" begins as we walk out of the door from church. For practical purposes, we have divided up the world into our local area, covered by the Evangelism team, and the rest of the world. The Mission Team therefore covers "Home Mission" (the UK beyond our local area) and overseas missionary work. |
| Click here for our Action Statement (Vision, Aims, you know the sort of thing!), outlining our purpose and aspirations. |
| As a church, we seek to support a selected group of missionary organisations and individuals. These include: BMS and Home Mission, Operation Mobilisation, the Suffering Church, Tear Fund, Gospel for Asia. |
Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow-prisoners, and those who are ill-treated as if you yourselves were suffering.
Hebrews 13:3 (NIV) |
| Individuals who have gone out from HGBC, or with whom we have close connections, represent work in the Gambia, Asia, North Africa and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In the past, members and friends of our church have gone out to Zambia, Nepal, India, the Philippines. (Some of these have been people who are actually members of other churches with whom we have links.) If you have any questions or information for the team, please email missions@hgbc.org.uk |
