Vision
The Mission Team adopts the Church’s Vision of "Turning ordinary people into extra-ordinary disciples of Jesus"
Aim
To encourage and empower those in the church to respond to God’s calling: to pray, to support and to go "into all the world and make disciples of all nations" (Matt 28:18-20)
In particular we aim:
• To increase mission interest and concern in the fellowship
• To promote prayer within the fellowship for those involved in home and overseas missions
• To increase the proportion of church income given to mission
• To recognise and encourage mission potential and calling from the membership and advise on training and preparation
• To co-ordinate mission interest and activity through a Missionary Deacon/Leader and Missionary Team responsible to the church members meeting through the Diaconate
• To review annually our mission policy, activities and the extent and appropriateness of our support for individuals and organisation
• To learn from other Christians overseas
In accordance with the following Biblical objectives:
• Pray regularly for the salvation of "everyone" (1 Tim 2:1-4)
• Pray diligently that the Lord of the Harvest will send our workers into his harvest field (Matt 9:37)
• Pray for these workers (Rom 15:30-31), keep the church informed about them (Eph 6:21-22), and support them financially (1 Cor 16:6)
• Pray regularly for Christians who are being persecuted (Eph 6:18)
• Offer what financial help we can to Christians who are in need in the developing world (Rom 12:13, Matt 25:31-46)
We will do this by:
• Praying for the work of home and overseas mission
• Supporting our own Missionaries through communication, prayer and giving.
• Inviting guest speakers from Mission organisations to speak in services and meetings
• Organising special mission focused events and activities
• Sharing the needs of Christians in other countries to the congregation through notice boards, newsletters and presentations
• Sharing the work of mission organisations with the congregation through notice boards, newsletters and presentations
• Allocating the Mission Team budget to support overseas and home missions |
