Seedlings is a group for parents and their pre-school children and although Church based, it is open to anyone in the Hazel Grove area. The helpers will introduce you to other members and generally make you feel at home. We aim to provide suitable toys and activities during the session and many of the helpers are mums themselves so we can understand and appreciate life with the little ones! Mid-session we all have a drink and a biscuit. We suggest that each family pay £1 per session towards the cost of running Seedlings. We usually finish our session with a short time of singing. Help tidying away prior to this is encouraged so that the children can enjoy their singing without the obvious distraction of toys. Please join in with the singing so that we all benefit! Seedlings is for babies and toddlers Children learn through play. They enjoy the different toys and craft activities that the group provides. They also enjoy watching and playing alongside others of their own age. Children of this age need their parents' nearness and approval to benefit from these play experiences. Seedlings is for parents We recognise that parents too have needs of their own. Just getting out of the house for a while is often a relief, especially if you are feeling low and need to talk over problems or just meet friends for a chat. We understand how you feel, but please don't forget to watch your children! Safety at Seedlings We have made the area and equipment as safe as possible, but little children need your individual attention and supervision whilst playing on slides, sit-and-rides, etc... and when going to the toilet / washing hands. Please note that your are responsible for your own child(ren) at all times. Sharing at Seedlings Young children need you to join in with their play activities to help build up their confidence. Toddlers find it difficult to share and take turns, so if squabbles arise it helps if you are there to distract your child with another toy or activity - or back up one of the helpers who may be trying to sort out a child having a tantrum! Starting at Seedlings When you come to the group we would ask you to sign yourself and your children IN when you arrive and OUT when you leave, so that in the event of a fire we know exactly who is in the building.
