Church News

Thanks for wanting to keep up to date with our news and here are a few extracts from our internal newsletters in November.

Yesterday was the official start of the countdown to Christmas in the Paddon house.

I guess there are a lot of different opinions about Christmas. Many people believe Christmas celebrations start too early and have become increasingly associated with consumerism and materialistic values. This could be true, but for Christians, it's a great opportunity to invite people to meet Jesus for the first time. It's never too early to start praying for people we might invite to one of our Christmas events.

There are a lot of events happening during December but here is a heads-up...

Our new sermon series starting in December is called The Heart Of Christmas. We are exploring the themes of hope, peace, joy and love.

Toy Service

We will be holding our annual Toy Service on 1st December. The gifts are given out through Loaves and Fishes. Please bring unwrapped new toys or gifts. This service is not a family service. The children will be going out to practice the nativity.

Promise Wall

Starting in December, as you enter the Sanctuary, a light net will be hanging up. Some small gift tags will be available. You can put your Christmas wishes on them, but better still, write some promises from the Bible, prayers, and words of encouragement for our visitors to read and be blessed.

Hampers

We will be collecting food for hampers again this year. The last collection day is 15th December. The parcels are given out through Stockport Social Services.

Christmas Jumper

On Sunday 15th December the theme is Joy. It seems a good day, for those who want, to wear a Christmas jumper, funny hat or bow tie! Don't go and buy one but if you have one put it on and create some joy in the house. We also want to take some informal pictures of the congregation and make a photo-real to show during some of our services.

Community Carols

This is a really important event for us to support. On 20th December 6:00 pm, we are gathering outside the building to sing carols. There will be refreshments and opportunities to make Christingles.

Nativity Sunday

On 22nd December we have our Nativity Service (10:30 am) and Carol Service (6:30 pm). As well as the usual content we have some creative elements as well. The Bible is read in different languages, shadow puppets, a creative reading of the Magnificat and much more. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family.

Christmas Day

We will be gathering together at 10.30am for a family time of worship to celebrate the birth of our Saviour – do join us in person or on line.

And don’t forget you can always view our services on our YouTube channel.
